ING Savings Booster: the welcome rate and the monthly rules

A headline savings rate is only useful if you qualify for it and can maintain the conditions. The welcome offer, the ongoing rate and the referral reward are three separate things to check.

Start with the welcome period

ING’s rate announcement effective 9 October 2026 lists a maximum welcome rate of 6.25% p.a. for eligible new Savings Booster customers for their first four months. The current qualifying rate after that period is 5.65% p.a., on balances up to A$500,000. These rates are variable. The welcome offer is subject to new savings customer eligibility; confirm your account history and the start date with ING. An annualised rate is not a four-month return.

Keep Booster and Maximiser separate

Savings Booster requires an Orange Everyday account and monthly balance growth of at least A$100, excluding interest paid by the bank. Withdrawals can offset deposits. Savings Maximiser has different requirements and a different balance cap. Do not assume the A$1,000 deposit and five-card-purchase conditions used for Maximiser are Booster’s ordinary interest-rate requirements.

The referral reward has its own conditions

The A$100 offer runs until 30 November 2026 and requires eligible customers to open the specified Orange Everyday and Savings Booster accounts and complete the offer’s deposit and settled-card-purchase requirements within the same calendar month. Previous account ownership since 1 July 2019 can affect eligibility. Meeting the savings interest condition does not automatically earn the referral reward.
